The Marshalltown Community School District (MCSD) is excited to announce that preschool sign-up for the 2025-26 school year will open on Monday, Feb. 3. The district’s preschool program provides a high-quality, tuition-free experience designed to nurture early learning and prepare children for a lifetime of success.
The program is part of Iowa’s Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program and is offered at all MCSD elementary schools, as well as with community partners. With morning and afternoon classes available five days a week, the program is tailored to meet the needs of families while fostering each child’s academic, social, and emotional development. Children must be 4 years old by September 15, 2025, to enroll. The program is fully inclusive, with certified early childhood educators, special education services, and paraeducators to support diverse learning needs. Additional highlights include:
A proven curriculum designed to build skills in math, literacy, and social-emotional development.
Opportunities for indoor and outdoor play to support physical growth and teamwork.
Meals provided during each session, including breakfast for morning classes and lunch for afternoon classes.
“It is important that children have high quality early childhood experiences and we are proud to offer this. The children learn school routines, age appropriate academic skills and start their foundations of social-emotional learning,” says Preschool Coordinator, Emily Banks. To start the registration process, families will need to call the B.A. Niblock - MCSD Orpheum Welcome Center at 641-328-7303 and set a preschool sign-up appointment. Families will need to bring proof of their child’s age, proof of address, and immunization records to that appointment. Placement confirmation will be sent in the spring, and additional registration details will follow in July.
“We’re thrilled to welcome new families into our preschool program,” said Banks. “This is the first step in building strong foundations for learning and leadership as part of our commitment to Embrace The Lead.”
Families are encouraged to register early, as the district cannot accept additional students once capacity is reached. For more information about the preschool program or sign-up process, visit www.marshalltown.k12.ia.us or contact Preschool Coordinator Emily Banks at 641-754-1000
